Short & Sweet

26 3852-7736 lbs 4-10 22-36 feet

Why we recommend the Coachmen Freedom Express Travel Trailer: Coachmen travel trailers don’t need an introduction, being one of the top travel trailer manufacturers on the market. This particular brand, the Freedom Express, has a 26 floorplans, of which 14 have bunkhouses. We particularly preferred the Freedom Express 292BHDS and the Freedom Express 275BHS, although there are others that are just as good and feature the same great features!

No matter which floorplan you choose, it’s always the same ducted air conditioner, jackknife sofa, and the same interior speakers. Adding new features later down the road is also taken care of with sensible expansions such as an upgraded 15,000 BTU air conditioner and an 8 cubic feet refrigerator instead of a 6 cubic feet variant . Overall, the Freedom Express does not disappoint, and is definitely an amazing travel trailer to choose when traveling with your grandkids!

43 5322-8795 lbs 4-10 27-38 feet

Why we recommend Palomino Puma travel trailer: If the 20+ floorplans of the Freedom Express aren’t what you’re looking for, then the 43 floorplans (21 bunkhouse ones) of the Palomino Puma should provide you with enough choices! Even the heaviest floorplan tips the scales at 8,795 pounds, making it fairly easy to tow using regular means. The footprint ranges from 27 to 38 feet, once again providing many options for any RV buyer.

Our recommendation would be checking out the Puma 28-FQDB and the Puma 30-FBSS, but there are others which are just as good as these. They all have the basic necessities along with many extras thrown in, ranging from the choice of 4 different interior decors and electric awning with an LED light strip. There are an extremely long list of upgrades for the Puma, as well! Some noteworthy ones among them are the 39-inch LED TV, an outdoor kitchen, and a tri-fold sofa.

The Versatile Family RV

No. of Floorplans Unloaded Weight Sleeps Length
17 2350-7445 lbs 3-9 16-36 feet

Why we recommend the Jayco Jay Flight SLX travel trailer: The Jayco Jay Flight SLX has been featured in so many of our top 5 lists that it might be a record. It assuredly suits your purpose if you’re traveling with your grandkids, as there are 17 floorplans to choose from which range from the lightweight ~2,350 lbs to fairly heavy ~7,445 lbs. You also have the option of choosing a length ranging from 16 to 36 feet–depending on how many kids and adults are going for the trip.

There aren’t a lot of differences in features between the floorplans. They either have a 20-gallon or a 30-gallon freshwater tank or a slightly larger or smaller main entrance door. Each of these travel trailers has exterior speakers, amber patio lighting, fully-integrated A-frame and other features. As far as bunkhouses go, we really liked the Jay Flight SLX 174BH and the Jay Flight SLX 224BH, but once again, the only difference between them is the slight change in features and physical specifications (length, weight, etc).

Why we recommend the Dutchmen Aspen trail travel trailer: If there’s one word that comes to mind when looking at the Aspen Trail, it’s quality. From a well-built exterior to providing 36 floorplans, it speaks volumes about the company’s effort to make a superb travel trailer. Of these 36, there are 19 which have bunkhouses in them, of which we recommend checking out the Aspen Trail 2340BHS and the Aspen Trail 26BH!

The Aspen trail also impresses in terms of features. It has all the basic safety measures, such as the smoke and carbon monoxide dectectors and then went on ahead to add some extras such as the LP leak detector.
